Full property description
The house is conveniently located about 800 meters north of the village of Manzanillo, the southernmost settlement along the coast road on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. The beautiful beaches of Manzanillo and Punta Uva are nearby.
Casa Auratus has two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. The upper loft bedroom has its own bathroom and a terrace with an outside shower. From the upstairs bedroom the adjacent jungle appears as a wall of green that is transformed into a beautiful firefly show after dark.
The bathroom downstairs has its own shower. A fully equipped kitchen lies within the main room on the lower level. For your convenience laundry service is available. At Casa Auratus you can "let the jungle come to you".
The house hosts unique design elements such as an open floor plan, a beautiful wooden spiral staircase and other natural wood elements, large windows to maximize interior light in the jungle location, and an upstairs terrace with an outdoor shower.
While you have your coffee on the deck you will frequently hear and see troops of howler monkeys. Exotic birds, such as toucans, are frequent visitors, and don't be surprised if the brightly colored frog, Dendrobates auratus, comes hopping by in the morning. You may even take a short walk on your own private jungle trail adjacent to the house.
Casa Auratus is perfect for that romantic getaway, secluded on the edge of the jungle, yet close to beautiful beaches where you will find excellent swimming, snorkeling, and fishing.
Long walks on nearly deserted beaches are just minutes from the house. For an extra treat you may hire a local guide to take you on a walk in the jungle.
In the heart of a wildlife refuge and on the edge of a long sandy beach, you will find the small village of Manzanillo. It’s the end of the road, but the beginning of an unforgettable experience. There are several restaurants, a bar and a souvenirs shop that face the long beach, lined with coconut trees. Children play endlessly in the waves, men fish from their boats and the elderly townsmen sit in the shade of the almond trees, playing their games of dominos. Life is easy and peaceful and mornings filled with wonder as you awake to the sounds of nature and the howler monkeys.
